Sleep Disorders Center
Sleep apnea can be controlled and treated once properly diagnosed. United Hospital System’s Sleep Disorders Center uses advanced technology to monitor patients for breathing, sleep stages, heart rate, and muscle activity, as well as oxygen levels during sleep.
What is the Sleep Disorders Center?
The Sleep Disorders Center at United Hospital System is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art diagnostic and
treatment facility where sleep patterns are monitored and evaluated.
Our trained technologists, under the direction of
Dr. Habel, perform sleep studies on individuals who may have a sleep disorder and provide treatment to those diagnosed with a problem.
A sleep study or polysomnogram is a recording program that contains several types of measurements used to identify different sleep stages and classify various sleep problems. In addition, brain activity, movement, heart rhythms, breathing patterns, and oxygen trends are also monitored and recorded. In order to ensure your comfort during your study, private rooms include television, private bathroom and many other amenities of home.
Alfred Habel, M.D. is the Medical Director of United Hospital System’s Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Habel
attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at the Hennepin County Medical Center and a fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Dr. Habel is board certified in the practice of Sleep Disorders, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonology and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Habel, along with his team, works personally with every sleep disorder patient before and after their studies to achieve the appropriate treatment for a return to restful and restorative sleep.
